DISTRICT SOUTH APARTMENTS COMMEMORATE GRAND OPENING

The City of Fishers, Rebar Development, and project partners celebrated the grand opening of District South Apartments in downtown Fishers today. With the cut of the ribbon, the $33 million mixed-use village in the Nickel Plate District is now officially open. Residents of the modern apartment buildings join five new commercial tenants, located a block off 116th Street on South Street.  

“I’m excited to see the Nickel Plate District vision continue to come to life thanks to the leadership of Rebar Development with the addition of District South,” said Fishers Mayor Scott Fadness. “Today’s ceremony marks a milestone for the south side of 116th Street that will spur more vibrancy and opportunities to live, work, and play in downtown Fishers.”

Breaking ground in February of 2024, District South consists of five buildings and creates a multi-generational, mixed-use village that is walkable, bike-friendly, and pet-friendly with direct connection to the Cheeney Creek Trail and the Nickel Plate Trail.

“Our project team and investors have really delivered a gem in downtown Fishers,” said Shelby Bowen, Founder of Rebar Development. “The Mayor and his team’s vision has already come to fruition with great new businesses and residents living and working in downtown. We are grateful to be a part of another successful public-private partnership with the City.”  

Anchoring District South, building three boast the new headquarters for The Annex Group on the first floor and 42 residential one-bedroom loft apartments on the top three floors. The building also includes a shared rooftop outdoor patio, cafe, and work from home lounge.

The four surrounding buildings in the village include a mix of 42 apartment homes and five commercial suites designed for small businesses. Residents, entrepreneurs, and employees located in District South will share luxury amenities, including a state-of-the-art fitness center, an engaging civic plaza, a courtyard with a grilling station, fire pit, and water features.

New and existing businesses have already located to District South, including Osborn Insurance Agency, Mac Experience, Sam Shaw Salon, CrossCountry Mortgage, as well as The Annex Group.

The apartment homes at District South feature spacious one- and two-bedroom floor plans with large balconies or patios, modern kitchens that boast upgraded stainless steel appliances, a tile backsplash, enhanced lighting and faucet package, and quartz countertops. In addition, each unit has an in-unit washer/dryer.

“With direct access to both trails, Farmer’s Market, concerts, and great restaurants and shops, this is going to be a fun place to live and work,” finished Bowen.
