REBAR DEVELOPMENT POISED FOR FUTURE GROWTH

Tom Dickey, President and Partner at Rebar Development

Industry veteran, Tom Dickey has joined the ownership group at Rebar Development—the Fishers-based, closely-held commercial real estate development firm. Joining company founders Shelby Bowen and Jerry Ewing, Dickey’s addition will expand Rebar Development’s capacity to develop transformative public private partnerships throughout the Midwest.

First working together at the City of Fishers in Mayor Scott Fadness’ administration to plan and manage the development of what is now known as the Nickle Plate District in downtown Fishers, Bowen and Dickey have remained collaborators since 2015.

“Over the years, if Shelby and I weren’t talking about a project in which we were working on together, we were calling each other for advice and support,” said Dickey. “In many ways, when I sat down in my Rebar office, it felt like not much had changed.”

In 2024, Rebar Development will surpass $300 million in new development since it was founded in 2017. Working closely with municipalities, lenders, landowners, and investors to deliver high-quality multifamily, mixed-use, and master developments, Rebar Development has successfully brought key stakeholders together to create unique projects designed to meet a community’s goals for growth and revitalization. These public private partnerships often include local and state agencies that co-invest in communities and foster additional private investment.

“I am grateful for the partnerships we have had across central Indiana and the opportunity to develop such impactful projects,” said Bowen, CEO and Partner of Rebar Development. “I’m incredibly excited for what our future holds with Tom joining the team. He’s an extraordinary developer and embodies the sense of character and stewardship that will continue to make Rebar Development the premiere public private partner.”

Combined, Bowen and Dickey have negotiated and executed nearly $1 billion in public private partnership developments. With completed projects in Plainfield, Noblesville, Lafayette, Speedway, Yorktown, and Fishers, Rebar currently has projects under construction in McCordsville, Fishers, and Southport. In addition, planned projects include the R.W. Lofts in Warsaw and CityView in Fishers in partnership with HighGround, a subsidiary of Carmel-based Hageman Group.

Prior to joining Rebar Development, Dickey led investment and development at Hageman Group, including partnering with Rebar Development on projects in Noblesville, Plainfield, and Speedway.

“It was a privilege to work with the Hageman team for the last eight years,” said Dickey. “I look forward to continuing our collaboration on CityView, as well as additional projects in the future. We share common values and a desire to leave the world a better place after our job is done.”

Announced in June 2023, CityView is scheduled to start construction later this year in Fishers. A mixed-use project designed for the 55+ active adult community, the development includes 190-unit resort-style apartment community, 18,000 square feet of first floor retail space along 116th Street, and a 350-space parking garage.
