ALDI PLANNED FOR FOUNDERS SQUARE DEVELOPMET IN SPEEDWAY

Store construction to start this month; Opens Summer 2021

SPEEDWAY, IN. – The Town of Speedway and Rebar Development announced today plans to build a new ALDI at the Founders Square development located near I-465 and Crawfordsville Road in Speedway. ALDI joins previously announced Hampton Inn and Crew Car Wash at the new gateway development.

The new ALDI location is planned for 20,400 sq. ft. and will offer Speedway residents easy access to fresh groceries at unbeatable prices. For added convenience, Speedway shoppers will also be able to order ALDI groceries for delivery, offering customers a completely contactless grocery shopping experience.

“When we began this redevelopment process for Founders Square, we asked our residents what their top priorities were for the Town,” stated Tim Gropp, Speedway Economic Development Director. “By far, the number one response was to have an additional option for groceries. We are pleased that ALDI has fulfilled this need in our community.”

Announced in 2020, Founders Square is a 25-acre master development project located off I-465 at the northwest corner of Crawfordsville and High School roads. Joining the new ALDI grocery store, the development will also include a Hampton Inn Hotel and Conference Center and a Crew Car Wash. In addition, the Town of Speedway has invested $5 million in infrastructure improvements including a new signalized intersection at 25th Street and High School Road.

In 2018, the Town of Speedway hosted a resident listening session to gather feedback on possible uses for the master development. A national grocery store was among the top responses from the community.

“Rebar Development and our partner, Hageman Group, are excited to bring a best-in-class grocer like ALDI to the Town of Speedway,” said Shelby Bowen, President of Rebar Development. “Founders Square is an important partnership with the Town and we are proud to add ALDI to a growing list of great service providers for the community.”

Construction on the ALDI store began early in January and is scheduled to be complete in the summer of 2021.
