Multi-million dollar plan would revitalize downtown Plainfield

PLAINFIELD, Ind (WISH) — This Hendricks County town is working to revitalize its downtown area and is starting with a project on the eastern portion. 

A new complex will spread about 2-1/2 blocks from U.S. 40 and Avon Avenue to East Street. Town leaders hope it will serve as a catapult to revitalize the downtown area. Business owners are hoping the same.

The Town of Plainfield and development partners, Rebar Development and Hageman Group, announced plans to move forward on a mixed-use redevelopment project in downtown Plainfield today, after the Town of Plainfield’s Town Council approval on the evening of Monday, October 22nd. The project is the first to move forward under the guidance of the Town’s Conceptual Downtown Redevelopment Plan.

Council OKs Plainfield Mixed-Use Development


The Plainfield Town Council has approved plans for a $21 million mixed-use development in downtown Plainfield. East and Main Flats would include a four-story building with 117 apartments, up to 7,000 square feet of commercial space and a 150-space parking lot.

Council member Dan Bridget calls the development a "big first step" in what will be a 20-year redevelopment plan for downtown Plainfield. The approval from the council allows the developers to move forward with the architectural design of the building.
